Photo Announcement. Onyx Boox Leaf 2, Nova 5, Note X2 and Tab 10 - 256 shades of gray - Mobile news world - Helpix

The Onyx company recently presented in China a whole bunch of new electronic ink readers. In ascending order of size and value:

To be honest, we managed to surprise you. Electronic ink is regular, not color. For the first reader, it is stated that this is E-Ink Carta 1200. For the rest, there is no information about the ink generation at all. But not the point. Until today, I have been firmly convinced thatcolor" ink is always exactly 16 gradations of gray (this is if you do not remember frank antiquities - there, it seems, it happened less). Nevertheless, the description of the first three devices (except for Tab 10) says about that the shades of gray here are not 16, but 256. And even the corresponding pictures are given, clearly showing the difference (look at the clouds). How Onyx managed to do this, I don’t really understand. But if it’s really so, it’s, of course, very cool .

Onyx Boox Leaf 2 is a quite compact device, sharpened purely for reading fiction.ceremonies. There are scroll buttons. No (unlike the other three devices) stylus support.

Onyx Boox Nova 5 is no longer just a device for reading, but also for taking notes. Larger screen, stylus supported.

Onyx Boox Note X2, due to its size, is positioned as a device for reading pdf files. And, again, a stylus, notes.. Possibly a copy of Onyx Boox Note Air 2 Plus. Or not - it's hard to say. Formally, they have different weights and dimensions. And the screens and batteries seem to be the same.

Onyx Boox Tab 10, Judging by the official pictures, it is proposed to use it not only with a stylus, but also with a keyboard (however, you will have to buy it separately). A kind of compact laptop with an ink screen. Absolutely outrageous by the standards of ink devices battery capacity and a huge (again by the standards of ink devices) amount of permanent memory.

The screens of all devices are touch-sensitive, backlit. Most likely, in all devices, except for the younger one (where the stylus is not supported), two separate touch layers are used. One - for Boys, the second - for the stylus.

As usual, Onyx does not provide the name of the chipsets used. All four are Qualcomm's, all four have the same operating frequency of 2 GHz. But in Tab 10 the chip (and it's underlined) is eight-core. Yes, and working in tandem with a separate independent chip for the display. And for other devices, the number of cores is not indicated. Let's assume that Tab 10 is Snapdragon 662. Perhaps it is also used in Note X2. Although When the significant difference in price between these two devices is not clear. In the rest of the devices, most likely, there is a more modest quad-core chip "for the Internet of things" Qualcomm QCS2290.

There is more than a decent amount of memory, especially for older devices. And, suddenly, all four readers have support for memory cards. Nice surprise.

Batteries. Quite typical for ink devices capacity for the first three devices. And, again, something outrageous in the case of Tab 10.

All devices do not include chargers or cases. But styluses, on the contrary, are available (except Leaf 2, of course).

The first three devices (except Tab 10 - not sure about that) have external speakers. Most likely, there are also microphones.

I already said about Chinese prices at the very beginning of the news.

We look forward to appearing in Russia.
