Announcement. Poco M5s - budget double (+ first reviews and AliExpress price)
Xiaomi held a global presentation today and presented a couple of inexpensive smartphones to the respectable public Poco M5 and Poco M5s. Despite the similarity of names, the devices are completely different. I will not combine them into one news. This test is about the Poco M5s. You can read about the second smartphone here.
Actually, the Poco M5s is pretty boring. Because this is the perfectly familiar last year's Redmi Note 10S, which is still actively sold on every corner. It was also re-released in India less than a month ago under the name Redmi Note 11 SE 4G.
Well, yes. Formally, the new Poco has a slightly different appearance - the design of the camera island has been slightly updated. And the software is fresher - Android 12 out of the box. But, honestly - it was worth it - to fence a garden? Even the set of colors was too lazy to change.
About the characteristics.
MediaTek Helio G95 chipset. Not a bad chip for the middle class. We are waiting for 300-350 thousand points in AnTuTu. 4 or 6 GB of RAM, 64 or 128 GB of storage. There is support for memory cards (separate tray).
The screen cannot boast of an increased refresh rate. But the rest is good. AMOLED matprint, 6.43" (100 cm²), high resolution 1080x2400 (409 ppi). Special thanks for not integrating a fingerprint scanner into the screen - it is placed on the side.
The battery is capacious, 5000 mAh. It has 33W fast charging. They promise 54% charge in 30 minutes.
There are a lot of cameras, but the set is outdated. Front camera 13 MP, rear classic quad 64+8+2+2 MP. Main module, wide-angle, macro, depth sensor. The main camera most likely uses an OmniVision OV64B sensor, but this is inaccurate.
There is an NFC module. Side fingerprint scanner. Dual-band Wi-Fi is also available.Fi, Type-C, stereo speakers and IR blaster.
The start of sales is scheduled for September 6, i.е. for tomorrow. And it will take place on AliExpress. The price will be $169 (₽11500), $189 (₽12900) and $209 (₽14200) for versions 4+64, 8+128 and 6+128 GB respectively.
Additional coupons that could drop the price by another $22, apparently, will not be available in Russia.
