About ten years ago, when smartphones were not a match for the current ones, and e-readers flourished and were proud of their popularity, several very compact e-readers appeared on the market. The standard screen size for e-readers, both then and now, was six inches. Compact readers came with screens around 4.3", i.e. approximately like smartphones of that time. I even tested one of these (teXet TB-436) at one time. Nice device.� did not take off. And not only did it not take off. Microreaders were not needed by the people from the word at all. The producers of the second echelon rummaged a little and abandoned the topic, but then the tops did not even begin to start it. So everything died out.
And so, at the end of 2022, Ritmix decided to dig up that flight attendant. Sales of Ritmix RBK-477 and Ritmix RBK-618 devices begin in Russia.
Ritmix RBK-618 - a moderately ordinary reader. 6" ink screen (111 cm²). The resolution is low, 758x1024 (212 ppi). There is no sensor, no backlight.
But Ritmix RBK-477 is just a microreader. With a 4.7" (61 cm²) screen. The resolution is also not very high, 540x960 (234 ppi). There is also no sensor or backlight - you need to control the device using numerous buttons.
The devices seem to have identical hardware. Unnamed chipset up to 600 MHz. 128 MP RAM, 4 GB storage. Support for memory cards is available.
Battery capacity (by the standards of such devices) is more than sufficient. 800 mAh for Ritmix RBK-477 and 1500 mAh for Ritmix RBK-618.
No Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, apparently. USB is ancient, i.e. Micro.
Readersalready on sale. I see them on Wildberries (one, two). The prices are not humane. For the microreader Ritmix RBK-477 they ask for ₽6990 ($105), for Ritmix RBK-618 - ₽8490 ($128). At the same time, neither cases nor even chargers are included in the packages.
P.S. In fairness, it should be noted that compact readers do exist in nature. In China. Moaan InkPalm Plus with a 5.84" screen, for example. A very fresh device. It was announced in the spring of 2022. But outside of the Middle Kingdom, you won't see anything similar on sale.
