Samsung announced yesterday the third generation of its clamshell smartphone with a flexible screen. Meet Galaxy Z Flip4. And no, I didn't misspell. It is the third generation.

For the most part, no revelations. Scheduled update of last year's Galaxy Z Flip3. Installed the current flagship chipset. They tweaked the mechanics, of course. The battery has been increased. They say the camera is cooler than that of the ancestor. But no fundamental changes, no new highlights are visible.

The chipset here, as you might guess, is Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. ANDdem in AnTuTu for a million points. RAM is always strictly 8 GB, which is not very impressive by modern standards. Permanent memory - from 128 to 512 GB. Support for memory cards, of course, no.

The screens, it seems, migrated from last year's model without changes. The main screen is a flexible Dynamic AMOLED 2X with a diagonal of 6.7 "(101 cm²) with a dynamic refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. The resolution is high, 1080x2640 (426 ppi). The external screen is still the same 1.9" (9 cm²), Super AMOLED, resolution 260x512, which gives 302 dpi. They write that they seriously tweaked the software, scripts usedmore external screen.

The battery has grown from 3300 mAh to 3700 mAh, which is useful. The charging speed has increased to 25W. There is also the possibility of wireless charging.

The resolution of the cameras remains the same. Frontal - 10 MP. Plus a rear couple of 12 + 12 MP - main and wide-angle. But, apparently, the main sensor is now different. If Galaxy Z Flip3 used Sony IMX563 with 1.4μm pixels, now the pixels have grown to 1.8μm. I will assume that we are talking about Samsung ISOCELL 2LD or about Sony IMX555 - i.e. about those sensors that Samsung is active in� I used it in my previous flagships (up to and including Galaxy S21). So we can assume that the Galaxy Z Flip4 will be significantly stronger than its predecessor by the photo part.

Other. 5G, NFC, sixth Wi-Fi, barometer, side-mounted fingerprint scanner, support for both traditional SIM cards and eSIM.

Moisture protection class IPX8 has also been preserved. Those. full immersion to a depth of one and a half meters for up to 30 minutes is permissible. What is not trivial, they do not promise protection from dust. Well, despite the protection, the use of a smartphone on the beach or in the pool isStrongly "not recommended" by the owner.
