Announcement. Vivo X90 and Vivo X90 Pro - invigorating mid-range smartphones

Vivo unveiled its top-of-the-line X90 series of smartphones in China today - Vivo X90, Vivo X90 Pro and Vivo X90+.

This news is about two junior devices. You can read about the older one, about Vivo X90 Pro+ separately - here.

X90 left, X90 Pro right

The debut of the MediaTek Dimensity 9200 chipset. The most powerful of modern MediaTeks, we are waiting for more than a million points in AnTuTu. (Interestingly, in X90 Pro+ we also have the debut of a chipset, but a different one. They put Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 there).

Memory. 8 or 12 GB of RAM for both devices (LPDDR5/LPDDR5x). Permanent memory - from 128 to 512 GBfor X90 and from 256 to 512 GB for X90 Pro (UFS3.1 for the younger version of X90 and UFS4.0 for all other versions). No memory card support.

The screens appear to be identical. 6.78" (111 cm²) AMOLED panels with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. And a high resolution of 1260x2800 (453 ppi). (The X90 Pro+ has the same screen size, but is more modern and high resolution).

The batteries are close, but still slightly different. 4810 mAh for Vivo X90 and 4870 mAh for Vivo X90 Pro. Wired charging is obscenely fast at 120W (interestingly, the top-end X90 Pro+ is somewhat slower). M�The lower device Vivo X90 lacks wireless charging.

The front cameras of all three smartphones in the series have a resolution of 32 MP. I suspect that they are generally identical (but this is inaccurate).

With the rear cameras, of course, everything is a little more complicated. Let's start with Vivo X90 Pro. Here we have cameras with a resolution of 50 + 50 + 12 MP.

50 MP is the main camera. Same Sony IMX989 inch sensor as X90 Pro+. And also with optical stabilization, of course.
50 MP - telephoto portrait camera, also with OIS. And also the same as Pro+. Those. incomprehensible brand new sensor Sony IMX758.
12 MP -simple wide-angle camera without stabilization. Sensor Sony IMX663.

Vivo X90 Pro

The younger smartphone Vivo X90 has the same set of cameras, but the set is simpler. 50+12+12 MP.

50 MP - the main camera with a simpler and smaller Sony IMX866 sensor. But OIS is available.
12 MP - portrait telephoto on Sony IMX663 sensor, i.e. also more simple than that of the "firmware".
12 MP - no change here, also Sony IMX663.

Vivo X90

Other. There is support for 5G networks, there is a sixth Wi-Fi, Type-C, an IR blaster, an NFC module. No support for LTE Band 20.

Vivo X90 Pro is water resistant �� dust class IP68. The younger smartphone, X90, does not have it.

And about money.

Vivo X90 will cost at launch ¥3699 (₽31400, $516), ¥3999 (₽33900, $558), ¥4499 (₽38100, $628) and ¥4999 (₽42400, $698) for versions 8+128, 8+256, 12+256 and 12+512 GB respectively.

Vivo X90 Pro is a thousand yuan more expensive. ¥4999 (₽42400, $698), ¥5499 (₽46600, $767) and ¥5999 (₽50800, $837) for versions 8+256, 12+256 and 12+512 GB respectively.
