Announcement. ZTE Nubia Pad 3D and Lume Pad 2 - tell the blind man about the sunset

Photo Announcement. ZTE Nubia Pad 3D and Lume Pad 2 - tell the blind man about the sunset

I feel like a blind man who tells his colleagues about the misfortune of what the sunset looks like. When was the last time I saw 3D? At the cinema shortly before the onset of covid? But how it all began. And I'm not even talking about the 3D madness that raged about ten years ago, when it seemed that just a little bit more - and all phones and TVs would be equipped with special screens, and viewing glasses would be sold in every newsstand. No. I'm talking about distant teenage memories. About exhibitions with holographic pictures... Squish. Something for nostalgiaulo.

So. At the exhibition in Barcelona presented a tablet with a telling name ZTE Nubia Pad 3D.

Yes, this is a tablet that can display 3D images. What does it look like? But who knows. Here's a video where you can take a look at a previous generation tablet with the same technology. There, in particular, it is shown that with the help of such a tablet you can watch any YouTube video in 3D.

What is the Lume Pad that this video is talking about? Let's figure it out. There is such a company called Leia. Which a couple of years ago this Lume Pad and releasedStyle. Have you heard about him? I seem to have missed it. Didn't take off, yes.

And now - the second attempt. ZTE announces its Nubia Pad 3D and at the same time pre-orders for the Lume Pad 2 tablet start in the States. ZTE writes that their tablet is made in collaboration with Leia. And the Lume Pad 2 is actually a tablet from Leia.

Further, there are slight misunderstandings, because detailed specifications for neither one nor the other tablet have been published. By all accounts, it's basically the same thing. Screens and hardware are exactly identical. Cameras and batteriesstill questionable.

So. What do we know about the technology used in these tablets?

1. Glasses are not needed to view 3D.

2. Another special layer is added to the tablet screen. (Prorietary DLB Layer - 3D Lightfield mode). Those. it is impossible to turn any ordinary tablet into a 3D tablet. The technology is not only software, but also hardware.

3. The dual front camera tracks the eyes of the viewer and, depending on the position of the head and the direction of gaze, forms a picture on the screen.

4. Of course, not without the ubiquitous AI. Why here andartificial intelligence? As far as it can be judged by advertising phrases, it is used both in the formation of video (to highlight objects?), and in tracking the face of the viewer.

Where does the 3D image come from?

1. The tablet is equipped with dual cameras. 8 + 8 MP front and 16 + 16 MP rear. They know how to shoot in some special 3D format, which can then be viewed on the tablet itself.

2. The tablet can convert any ordinary picture into 3D (see the example of converting YouTube videos to 3D). Those. theoretically you can watch in 3DEverything else - including any films.

3D can also be used in toys - it is said that a fair amount of different things are optimized for the tablet. Plus chats in 3D, plus tutorials. And so on.

A little about the usual characteristics.

Iron. An older but still powerful flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset (700-800k points in AnTuTu). 8 + 128 or 8 + 256 GB of memory (plus there is support for memory cards).

The screen is large. IPS-matrix with a diagonal of 12.4 "(446 cm²). High resolution, 2560x1600 (243 ppi). Refresh rate - up to 120 Hz.

There is a battery in Nubia9070mAh rail with 33W medium speed charging. There is no information about the Lume Pad 2 battery.

There is supposedly no mobile internet support. There is Type-C, Pogo Pin connector, four speakers.

About money. ZTE is still silent about its tablet. And Lume Pad 2 will be sold in Far Abroad for $1,099 (₽82,300) (minus one hundred dollars for "early birds").

I'm not sure I would like to have something like these tablets for personal use. But, of course, it would be extremely interesting to look at them.
