BEIJING (Sputnik) – China on Friday launched the primary batch of pictures of Mars taken by the Tianwen-1 spacecraft’s Zhurong rover, the China National Space Administration (CNSA) mentioned.
The pictures had been unveiled at a particular ceremony in Beijing. They included a panoramic view of the touchdown web site, pictures of the panorama, and the horizon of Mars.
The panoramic 360 shot of the touchdown web site was taken by a navigational terrain digicam hooked up to the rover’s mast. The pictures present that the floor close to the touchdown web site is comparatively flat.
On 11 June, the Zhurong rover marked its twenty eighth Sol or Martian day (one such day equals 24 hours 39 minutes). The service lifetime of the rover is 90 sols.
The Tianwen-1, which consists of an orbiter, a lander, and a rover, was launched on 23 July 2020, and efficiently entered Mars’ parking orbit in February. On 15 May, it made a secure touchdown within the southern a part of the Utopia Plain on the floor of Mars. The mission is geared toward finding out the ambiance, floor, geological traits, and options of the Red Planet’s magnetic area.
