Hackers Attack Networks of Malaysian Military, Chief of Defence Forces Says

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – A cyberattack was detected on networks belonging to the Malaysian navy on Monday, Chief of Defence Forces Affendi Buang confirmed on Tuesday, including that essential information was protected.

“We confirm that there was a cyber-attack on network data belonging to the MAF [Malaysian Armed Forces],” Affendi mentioned, as quoted by Malaysia’s The Straits Times newspaper.

Affendi added that related navy constructions, the Defence Cyber and Electromagnetic Division (BSEP) and Cyber Defence Operation Centre (CDOC), have remoted site visitors to cover the essential information and defend the navy’s community.

According to the chief of the navy, hackers typically goal networks of the MAF and the Malaysian Defence Ministry, and cyber divisions like BSEP and CDOC will proceed defending Kuala Lumpur’s strategic defence communication.
